Statement of the association Future Russia - Switzerland to Navalny's murder

Updated: Feb 21

On 16 February 2024, Alexei Navalny was murdered under unclear circumstances in a prison colony above the Arctic Circle.

Alexei's death lies entirely on the conscience of Vladimir Putin, who already tried to kill him in August 2020. We mourn with millions of Russian people and all supporters around the world. We express our deepest condolences to Alexei's family and close associates.

Our community was born thanks to the talent and charisma of Alexei Navalny, who was able to ignite a spark of sympathy and a desire to take responsibility for our country. For many years he tirelessly fought against disenfranchisement, corruption, and rigged elections, and called on people not to bury their heads in the sand.

Through his investigations, Alexei, and the Anti-Corruption Foundation he established have shown Russians that Putin's regime is a gang of crooks, thieves and, ultimately, murderers.

After the Bolotnaya Square protests in 2012, the Moscow elections in 2013, and the 2017 presidential campaign, he consistently became the most popular leader of the Russian opposition and remained so for the rest of his life.

Alexei genuinely loved Russia and was not going to give it into the hands of criminals without a fight.

Thank you, Alexei, for giving us the dream of the beautiful Russia of the future, and for relentlessly teaching us to fight for it, led by your example.

"Can love be banned in Russia!!!?" - shouts Alexei from the stage of the rally. "No!..." shout back the supporters. "We are gathered here for love and law!"

A hero of the new times, he believed in "the beautiful Russia of the future" and gave his life for it.

We don't give up, Alexei!

We continue to fight for our Russia!

Memorials in Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich, where rallies in memory of Navalny attracted more than 600 people.
